Africa
Children and youth living in poverty in Africa experience the harshest conditions of deprivation. We work in collaboration with four local organizations in Uganda and Ethiopia to offer children and youth a chance in life.
Despite tribal and political conflicts, natural disasters, health epidemics and the COVID-19 pandemic, our Partners offer children and youth the tools to achieve their full potential. From the crowded streets in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to the small towns in the Central Region in Uganda, A Chance In Life provides local organizations with the financial resources to provide at-risk children and youth access to education and basic services.

The project strives to empower young girls with quality education, eradicate illiteracy and advocate for human rights, namely a child’s right to education.

PARTNER ORGANIZATION
University and College Girls’ Support
Emdibir | Gurage Zone | Ethiopia
University and College Girls’ Support is a development project that serves young women between the ages of 20 and 26 in their second year of university or college education. Many girls from rural areas do not pursue higher education due to scarcity of financial resources. Economic constraints threaten the students’ ability to pay for university costs including printing, internet data and mobile package fees. And young women also face the burden of paying for medical bills and personal care items such as sanitary supplies. This project provides financial support to young women to pursue their university and college education and prepare them to pursue careers in the future.
PARTNER ORGANIZATION
Friendship for Integrated Development Association (FIDA)
Addis Ababa | Ethiopia
FIDA is a nonprofit organization that empowers children and youth living in extreme poverty in Addis Ababa. Many of the young people served by the program lost one or both parents and traveled from rural areas to seek short-term employment. The organization provides education, healthcare services and comprehensive support to these young people in need.
