International Women’s Day: The Power of Investing in Young Women

Remember Rehimush? Last year, we shared with you the inspiring story of a young woman from Ethiopia, whose life was transformed through education and the support of generous supporters like you.
Rehimush grew up in Addis Ababa in challenging circumstances. Coming from a farming family with limited resources, she faced financial hardship and could not even afford school supplies. The expectation was clear—like the women before her, she was destined to marry young and care for a household. This is the reality for many girls like Rehimush: when survival takes priority, education becomes a luxury.
But Rehimush had a different vision for her future. And with fierce determination and the support of generous donors like you, Rehimush received essential school materials, emotional support, and leadership training through FIDA, one of our programs in Ethiopia.
Today, we are thrilled to share an inspiring update: Just a few weeks ago, she graduated from St. Mary’s University with a degree in Management! This is a milestone that once seemed out of reach. But now, she has unlocked her true potential —she hopes to pursue a master’s degree and use her education to uplift her family and community.

March 8 is International Women’s Day – a day to stand alongside women and girls worldwide. This year, we affirm “For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment.” Every girl deserves the opportunity to learn and build a future on her own terms. At A Chance In Life, we work to make that future a reality.
Our work with our programs across the globe, driven by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ensures that young women worldwide can access the education, mentorship, and resources they need to succeed. We remain committed to ensuring girls have the right to education, safety, health, well-being and their chance in life. Why? Because despite the progress made so far, millions of girls still face barriers to education, economic independence, and personal safety.
Educating girls does not only have implications for her own future. Look at Rehimush. Her story is a testament to the power of investing in young women. When girls are given access to education, mentorship, and leadership training, they break barriers—not just for themselves, but for their entire communities.
This International Women’s Day, we invite you to join our mission. Your support helps young women like Rehimush build their futures. Your donation, big or small have a real impact in the lives of young people who are just waiting for an opportunity.
Here is what your generosity can support:
📚 $70 provides essential school supplies for a girl in need for one academic year, eliminating barriers to her education.
💡 $150 supports the development of one girl for a year, enabling access to mentorship programs, vocational training, and job preparedness.
🎓 $200 furnishes one classroom, allowing schools to serve more girls every academic year.
This International Women’s Day, we can make a lasting impact together. By contributing today, you are not just giving a donation; you are giving girls around the world a chance to rewrite their stories, just like Rehimush did.
