At La Repubblica dei Ragazzi, our program in Italy, something magical is happening! Young people in this community aren’t just learning to follow rules or go to school—they’re actively shaping their environment!

Through an exceptional creative partnership with Gios, a local artist and friend of the organization, these young citizens had the opportunity to design and paint vibrant murals that now infuse life and color into their home, La Repubblica dei Ragazzi.

This project has enabled them to make their space truly their own. However, it is about much more than just designing their environment. It’s about shaping their future, giving them the opportunity to unlock their creative potential, and empowering them to express themselves in a deeply personal way.

The murals symbolize the individuality, ideas, and stories of the young citizens of La Repubblica dei Ragazzi, all displayed on the walls of the place they call home. This is the essence of self-expression: enabling these young people to take ownership of their surroundings while adding something meaningful to their community. At A Chance In Life, we understand that creative self-expression is vital for Positive Youth Development (PYD), a comprehensive approach that empowers young people to take charge of their personal growth. Initiatives like these murals transcend mere art—they strive to foster confidence, build resilience, and encourage a sense of belonging. Inspiring youth to express themselves creatively lays the groundwork for personal growth, leadership, and emotional well-being.

At La Repubblica dei Ragazzi, young citizens are actively engaged in self-governance, attending school, participating in vocational workshops, and collaborating in community assemblies where they establish the rules for coexisting.
